We live in sunny Indian Wells, CA with our 3-yr old hypoallergenic Cavapoo girl, Bearie (so named because she looks like a little bear). We (social science researcher & historian) are retired & semi-retired and spend a lot of time studying up on the best things one can do in raising a doodle dog. Bearie is a sweetheart, very lovable yet she still maintains that vexing ‘charm’ of barking at every service person who comes near our door. We may hate that behavior, but oh Lordy, how we love Bearie! She is quite smart, has an extensive vocabulary, but is so domesticated that I’m not sure how she would handle a walk in the rocky hills, for example. But, she walks regularly here and everyone knows Bearie in our gated neighborhood. We (43-yr married couple from Midwest originally) prefer a similar Doodle dog (due to near hypoallergenic qualities), city/domesticated pupster with a good heart and loving disposition. More specifics can be provided later. In general, hot-headed/short fused dogs enthralled with their own persistent barking wouldn’t be for us.
